The Gamer Traveler has lain dormant for most of 2008 for a variety of reasons, most having to do with a lack of attention on my part and simply not setting aside the time to produce the podcast, devoting that time and energy to other endeavors. That actually pained me, as I love the work I do through The Gamer Traveler, which is why I have decided to enact a few changes in 2009.
The Gamer Traveler was started as “the podcast about Gaming & Travel all in one,” and that will remain the focus, though with a bit of an expansion: as of 2009, The Gamer Traveler becomes more than only the podcast, serving now as a gaming-oriented travel-themed blog as well. What that means is that I’ll be writing travel articles as they relate to gaming and the podcast will supplement the blog whenever episodes come out.
Expect to see the same type of content in writing as on the podcast, namely features on locations around the world and their possible uses in gaming, spotlights on gamer/geek-oriented destinations or attractions, travel reports whenever I am on the road, and hooks for your games translating real-world elements sampled through my travels into game-ready scenarios and ideas.
The podcast will return as well, though I will be taking the same approach to it as television travel shows take: I’m going to produce a season (I’m aiming for at least 6 episodes per season) and then release them little by little. That way when a new show comes out you can count on others following it at regular intervals, and you’ll know when there’ll be no new shows during production intervals.
In a way this approach will allow me to explore a lot more the connection between gaming and travel, since I won’t have to wait until I can put together a show to share stories with all of you. That energizes me and I hope you will come along for the ride.
Grab your dice pouch, packs your bags and get that ticket ready, because this tour is about to start.

I am glad to see this coming back I really liked the episodes. I can honestly say this and a few other shows got me interested in doing my own podcast.
That’s humbling; many thanks. The blog + podcast format will be liberating I think, and ideally will lead to a lot more content than before. Stay tuned.
