I need your help. While I can put together a list of games dealing with the topic of Travel, I know I’m going to come up short, naming only the most obvious titles.
When I say a game is “about Travel,” I’m being vague on purpose. There are games that are obviously about the act of traveling in some way, shape or form; but there are others where the topic may be more surreptitious. As long as you think it is about Travel (feel free to explain how if a game is mysterious enough), I’m good with it.
What I’d like you to do is help me track down games about Travel that I may not know about. Write your contributions in the comments section below and let’s see how many games about Travel we can name!
GAMES ABOUT TRAVEL
- 10 Days in… (Out of the Box Games)
- Africa
- Asia
- Europe
- USA
- Ticket to Ride (Days of Wonder)
- Basic Game
- Switzerland
- Europe
- Nordic Countries
- The Card Game
(See, only the obvious titles. Help me, folks!)

On my way to work, so more later…
Board Game Geek applies categories to games in the database. For games BGG lists in the Travel category:

Don’t forget the Marklin edition of TtR – it had the map of Germany. Will try to think up some others for you!
@David – There’s actually no Travel category at BGG, though once I’m done with this list there will be.
It does lists some of the related games as links, so it helps.
@Susie – Thanks. All editions of TtR will be added.

Space 1899 – exploring the surface of Mars

Hollow Earth Expedition comes to mind.

It’s not finished yet, but “Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple” is structured around the protagonists on a pilgrimage visiting different worlds.
Other board games involving travel:
The Fury of Dracula – Players journey in the hunt for the famous vampire.
Lord of the Rings: The Board Game – Players undertake the famous quest of Frodo & friends to destroy the Ring.

Daniel, the Travel page on BGG links to all the games that have “travel” as a category. Click through to the first listed game (by rank), for example, “Ticket to Ride: Europe.” On that game’s page you’ll see that the game has various attributes, including:
Category = Trains, Transportation, Travel
Mechanics = Card Drafting, Hand Management, Route/Network Building

Now, at the risk of diluting the meaning of “travel” in your request, here’s what I have on my shelves:
Thebes – primarily about archaeology, but travel around Europe and the Middle East is a significant component
Conquest of Paradise – Polynesians explore and settle the South Pacific
Merchant of Venus – travel the stars to establish markets
The Awful Green Things from Outer Space – what can go wrong if you’re not careful about what you pick up as a souvenir
Through the Desert – establishing caravan routes
Battlestar Gallactica – y’know, finding your way to Earth
Marco Polo Expedition – obvious

Thanks for all the info. I’m very much just gathering titles right now. Later on I’ll go over each and decide if it fits my definition (as dictated by certain thematic needs). But yeah, throw titles out and we’ll sort them out later!
Hmmm… I am probably quite late, but had to throw out two of my favorites, even if they’re a bit tongue-in-cheek: Oregon Trail, and, for board games, Lunar Rails.
